Meet your hosts
Hunters Wild Safaris is owned and operated by brothers Savva & Theo
Englezakis. Savvas and Theo were born in the North West Province and were raised
on the family cattle ranch. Their youth was spent hunting birds and small game
species with the local indigenous children. These early childhood adventures
ensured that they gained great knowledge of the local fauna and flora, and honed
their hunting and tracking skills.
After completing his schooling and military service in the late eighties, Savva
returned to manage the family cattle ranch. His passion for wildlife and hunting
led him to convert the farm into a game ranch. With conservation as a priority,
he successfully re-introduced previously depleted species endemic to the area.
In 1998 his dream of combining his passion with business to form Hunters Wild
Safaris became a reality. Savva is a member of Safari Club International and the
Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. His keen interest in wildlife resulted in him
successfully guiding his first client on a plains game hunt at the tender
age of 16.
Savva gained his dangerous
game expertise under the guidance of Ron Sparrow, holder of the SCI
International Hunter of the Year award and Ron's assessment of Savva as a
competent professional hunter is as follows - quote: " Savva as an associate
hunter has experience in hunting the Big Five with me in the field. He has
proved to have organisational skills prior to the safari and is able to
follow through on the hunt itself. His desire to bag a big trophy keeps him
persistent on the trail. His camaraderie around the camp and campfire is
most enjoyable. I recommend him as a professional hunter and outfitter and
look forward to future safaris with him."
After completing high school, in the early nineties, Theo joined Savva in the
family business. His enthusiasm for the outdoors and his easy-going personality
have proven beneficial to Hunters Wild Safaris. Combined, Savva and Theo make a
formidable team and, with their hands–on approach, they have made Hunters Wild Safaris the success it is today.
Russel and Kathy Webster
Russell & Kathy Webster joined Hunters
Wild Safaris in 1999. Russell grew up on a farm in the North West
province, where his passion for wildlife was fostered. He is an
experienced hunter and rises to any challenge the bush may present
him. Kathy’s camp management style, catering perfection and
attention to detail will make certain that your stay will be as
memorable as the hunt. It is important to her that all our clients
return home with fond memories of their African experience.
Werner Freitag worked for the department
of agriculture but his love for the bush made him pursue a career in
hunting. He worked as a freelance professional hunter until he
joined Hunters Wild Safaris in 2002. He has outstanding tracking
skills and great knowledge of the hunting area. His persistence to
bag a good trophy animal makes for an exciting hunting experience.
Trackers and Skinners are employed from
the local community and being traditional herders of livestock,
their skills and
knowledge of the African bush are unsurpassed.
